Add GTL Calculated Per Payroll

Set up Group Term Life Insurance (GTL) on a per payroll, recurring basis.

  1. Clicking the Add GTL Calculated Per Payroll button automatically populates the Earning Code, Description, Earning Type, Matching Ded Code, and W2 Box information required for GTL calculations.

  2. Check or clear the Active box to activate or inactivate the GTL earning code.

  3. Select the applicable Benefit Type from the drop down.

  4. If the earning code should not appear on employees' check stubs, select No from the Print on Check Stub drop down.

  5. If the earning code will appear on the employees' check stubs, enter the Check Stub Description that will appear on the check (10 character limit).

  6. Check the Include on YTD Compensation Chart box to display this information on the employee's year-to-date compensation chart.

  7. Select the Source for automatic employee record updates. This value is visible on the employee record as a reminder that the record may be updated by an external source.

  8. Save the updated information.

  9. Verify the employee’s Birth Date field is populated in Demographics.

  10. Add the GTL Earning Code to the employee's Earnings screen.

  11. Enter the full amount of the policy in the Hours/Units field in the Earnings screen, not just the amount in excess of $50,000.00.

Add GTL Flat Amount

Set up Group Term Life Insurance (GTL) to be reported on an annual basis.

  1. Clicking the Add GTL Flat Amount button automatically populates the Earning Code, Description, Earning Type, Matching Ded Code, and W2 Box required for GTL calculations.

  2. Check or clear the Active box to activate or inactivate the GTL earning code.

  3. Select the applicable Benefit Type from the drop down.

  4. If the earning code should not appear on employees' check stubs, select No from the Print on Check Stub drop down.

  5. If the earning code will appear on the employees' check stubs, enter the Check Stub Description that will appear on the check (10 character limit).

  6. Check the Include on YTD Compensation Chart box to display this information on the employee's year-to-date compensation chart.

  7. Select the Source for automatic employee record updates. This value is visible on the employee record as a reminder that the record may be updated by an external source.

  8. Save the updated information.

  9. Calculate the taxable amount of GTL and enter the taxable amounts during payroll entry on all applicable employees.
