HRMS (Human Resource Management System)

Summary Definition: A comprehensive software solution that automates and manages various HR functions, primarily talent management.

What is a Human Resource Management System?

A Human Resource Management System (HRMS) is an integrated software suite designed to automate and manage HR functions. This system serves as a central repository for employee data and streamlines HR processes such as recruitment, onboarding, payroll, performance management, time and attendance tracking, benefits administration, and compliance reporting.

HRMSs were originally designed to fill the talent management voids left by Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS). As HRIS platforms began to incorporate this functionality, the distinction between HRMS and HRIS became less clear. Nowadays, the differences between the two systems are minimal, though HRIS is a more common term.
