Position Overview 

This role leads the modernization of Paylocity's knowledge ecosystem and positions Knowledge Management as a foundational enabler of AI-powered experiences. This leader defines and executes the transformation roadmap across knowledge architecture, AI readiness, retrieval effectiveness, platform evolution, analytics, and operating processes.


They translate direction into executable plans, lead cross-functional delivery, operationalize new capabilities with the KM team, and produce measurable business outcomes.

Lead Knowledge Management Transformation

  • Develop and execute a multi-year Knowledge Management modernization roadmap tied to clear outcomes and milestones.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives that improve knowledge quality, accessibility, discoverability, usability, and scalability.
  • Translate strategic objectives into implementation plans, delivery increments, adoption activities, and performance measures.
  • Drive initiatives from concept through implementation, stabilization, and value realization.
  • Identify risks, dependencies, and decisions required to maintain transformation progress.

Build an AI-Ready Knowledge Ecosystem

  • Define and implement knowledge architecture, taxonomy, metadata, content models, and AI-ready content standards.
  • Improve how knowledge is structured and maintained to support semantic search, retrieval-augmented generation, conversational AI, and future agentic experiences.
  • Partner with Product & Tech and AI Automation Ops teams to define knowledge requirements to improve the client and account manager’s knowledge experience.
  • Establish feedback loops linking AI and search performance to content remediation and continuous improvement.

Drive Platform Evolution

  • Assess current KM platform capabilities and define business and functional requirements for the future-state ecosystem.
  • Lead market assessments, vendor evaluations, proofs of concept, and recommendation development.
  • Build the transformation roadmap and business case for next-generation KM capabilities.
  • Lead implementation and adoption work for approved platform changes in partnership with Technology and the operational KM team.
  • Partner with the Manager, Knowledge Management, who retains accountability for platform administration, maintenance, production support, and day-to-day workflows.

Establish Knowledge Intelligence

  • Develop a scorecard for knowledge health, usage, findability, retrieval effectiveness, content gaps, and transformation progress.
  • Use search behavior, user feedback, retrieval results, and operational data to diagnose issues and prioritize improvements.
  • Distinguish content and architecture issues from platform or retrieval-mechanics issues and coordinate the appropriate resolution.
  • Report progress, outcomes, risks, and recommendations to senior stakeholders.

Lead Cross-Functional Execution

  • Build alignment across Operations, Product, Technology, AI Automation, and Knowledge Management.
  • Influence decisions and delivery without direct authority over all contributing teams.
  • Partner closely with the Director on strategy and investment recommendations and with the Manager, Knowledge Management on operationalization and sustainment.
  • Create clear governance, decision rights, implementation plans, and handoffs so new capabilities become sustainable operating practices.

Management and Supervision: 

  • Lead and develop a high-performing knowledge management team, providing coaching, feedback, and growth opportunities that build expertise in knowledge strategy, content governance, and emerging technologies.
  • Lead the organizational transition from traditional knowledge management practices to technology-enabled knowledge ecosystems, empowering teams to leverage AI, automation, and digital platforms to improve business outcomes.
  • Build team capability in modern knowledge management practices, including AI-enabled knowledge discovery, content lifecycle management, data-driven decision making, and digital workplace solutions.

Education and Experience 


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • 8+ years of experience in Knowledge Management, information architecture, content strategy, digital transformation, operations, consulting, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex, cross-functional transformation initiatives from strategy through implementation and measurable outcomes.
  • Strong knowledge of taxonomy, metadata, content architecture, governance, and content lifecycle practices.
  • Experience improving enterprise search, retrieval, self-service, or AI-enabled knowledge experiences.
  • Experience defining business requirements, evaluating technology options, and supporting platform implementation or modernization.
  • Ability to use qualitative and quantitative data to diagnose problems, prioritize work, and measure results.
  • Strong executive communication, stakeholder management, change leadership, and structured problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to operate effectively through ambiguity while maintaining disciplined execution and accountability.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Salesforce Knowledge, eGain, ServiceNow, Guru, Confluence, or comparable enterprise KM platforms.
  • Experience with AI-powered search, retrieval-augmented generation, conversational AI, Agent Assist, or self-service solutions.
  • Experience leading vendor evaluations, proofs of concept, platform migrations, or enterprise capability implementations.
  • Consulting, transformation, continuous improvement, or business process redesign experience.

Physical Requirements

  •   Ability to sit for extended periods: The role requires sitting at a desk or workstation for long periods, typically 7-8 hours a day.
  • Use of computer and phone systems: The employee must be able to operate a computer, use phone systems, and type. This includes using multiple software programs and inquiries simultaneously.

The base pay range for this position is $101,500 - $145,000/yr; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This position is eligible for an annual bonus and restricted stock unit grant based on individual performance in addition to a full range of benefits outlined here. This information is provided per the relevant state and local pay transparency laws for the location in which this position will be performed. Base pay information is based on market location.
