From Admin Assistant to Sales Director: My Journey at Paylocity
July 21, 2025
When I walked into my first job in the payroll industry 22 years ago, I was an Administrative Assistant who had no idea what I was in for. I had butterflies in my stomach as I swiveled in my brand-new office chair that swallowed me whole. That young woman/nervous new employee would never have imagined that I would someday be the Director of Sales for Paylocity’s Growth Market Division, leading a fantastic team of 12 Account Executives up and down the East Coast.
But let’s back up for a second.
My journey did not start at Paylocity; I spent years growing my career at another organization. But three and a half years ago, I started talking to people at Paylocity and, something strange happened—everyone was happy. And not just a “smile-for-the-interview” kind of happy, but genuinely enthusiastic about the company. Even former employees had nothing but great things to say. It almost made me…suspicious. Could a company actually be this good?
Spoiler alert: It is.
When I joined Paylocity, I took a step back from leadership to become an Enterprise Account Executive. I wanted to immerse myself in the company and truly understand the culture. From day one, the support was overwhelming (in the best way). No one was ever too busy to help, leadership was transparent, and the collaborative energy was contagious. I worked alongside old friends, made new ones, and even found myself geeking out over what our software could do. (Trust me, some of it still blows my mind.)
True to their word, Paylocity knew my ultimate goal was to return to leadership. Just three months in, I was part of the Leadership Development Program, where I had the opportunity to learn, grow, and prepare for the next step. A year ago, when a leadership role opened in our Growth Market Division, I didn’t hesitate—I raised my hand. This was my chance to not only return to leadership but also put my stamp on this team, build strategies, support our reps, and work alongside some of the most talented people I’ve ever met.
Outside of work, my life is just as full. I’m a proud mom of four—two grown, two tiny, plus one very spoiled fur baby (an eight pound Maltese that swears he is a Rottweiler). My husband also works at Paylocity (yes, we’re that Paylocity family). When I’m not leading a sales team, I’m juggling school events, reading, spending time with friends, and escaping to warm destinations whenever I can.
One of the things I love most about Paylocity is the work-life balance. Traveling is part of my job, but I have the flexibility to schedule around my family’s important moments. Whether it’s a Wednesday morning pageant or a last-minute spring concert, my leadership team understands that life happens, and work doesn’t neatly fit into a 9-to-5 box. And that’s the kind of support that enables us to show up as our full selves. It makes all the difference to also want to show up for the company.
And speaking of warm destinations, let’s talk about one of the absolute best perks of being at Paylocity—the legendary President’s Club trips. These aren’t your standard company getaways with awkward networking by the hotel pool. No, Paylocity goes all out. Picture five-star resorts, breathtaking views, and celebrations that make you feel like a rockstar. From sunset yacht parties to beachside dinners with live music, these trips are a well-earned reward for top performers. The energy is electric, the memories unforgettable, and the motivation to make it back each year? Let’s just say it’s a strong one.
Looking back, I never could have predicted this journey. But I wouldn’t change a thing. Here’s to more growth, more learning, and a few more warm vacations.
Paylocity is the fastest-growing HCM company for a reason, and it’s not just the software—it’s the people, and its culture—and I am so excited for my next destination!
