About the Team
The Search & AI Assistant team is a growing engineering group based in the Czech Republic, responsible for building the company’s Search platform and integrating a conversational AI Assistant. As usage and scope increase, the team is expanding with a clear path toward splitting into two focused teams, offering engineers the chance to join early and help shape the future of these platforms. 

The team collaborates closely with product and UX partners in the United States while remaining fully co-located in CZ. The technical stack includes containerized .NET services, ReactJS, AWS, OpenSearch, and Amazon Bedrock, supporting modern, scalable search and AI-driven experiences. 

Position Overview 

The Senior Software Engineer leads technical initiatives and drives engineering excellence across our organization. This role combines technical expertise with leadership capabilities, focusing on architecting scalable solutions while mentoring and growing the engineering team.

Core Responsibilities 

• Architect and implement modular, maintainable software solutions that optimize for performance and scalability 
• Lead feature and epic design discussions, gathering and incorporating feedback from cross-functional teams 
• Drive technical decision-making with consideration for business objectives and customer needs 
• Identify and resolve technical ambiguities through systematic analysis and collaboration 
• Own medium to large-scale projects from conception to delivery, requiring minimal supervision 
• Coordinate across teams to identify and manage technical dependencies 
• Develop and execute comprehensive project plans aligned with business objectives 
• Maintain high-quality standards while meeting project timelines 
• Champion best practices in software development, testing, and deployment 
• Improve CI/CD pipelines, testing frameworks, and monitoring systems 
• Provide detailed, actionable code reviews that enhance overall code quality 
• Drive technical debt reduction initiatives and refactor legacy code 

Growth & Development 

• Guide junior engineers in adopting best practices and modern development techniques 
• Facilitate knowledge sharing through code reviews, pair programming, and technical discussions 
• Resolve conflicts independently when possible, escalating appropriately when needed 
• Influence technical direction through well-reasoned arguments and demonstrated expertise 

Education and Experience 

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field 
• Minimum 5 years of software engineering experience 
• Proven track record of leading significant technical initiatives 
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities 
• Collaborative mindset with ability to influence peers 
• Adaptable approach to changing requirements and priorities 

Technical Skills: 

• 5+ years of hands-on professional experience in software development, with a strong focus on frontend engineering 
• Deep experience with ReactJS or a comparable modern frontend framework, including advanced patterns and best practices 
• Strong knowledge of frontend technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript / TypeScript) and modern browser behavior 
• Proven experience designing and building highly interactive, responsive, and performant user interfaces 
• Solid understanding of frontend architecture, component design, state management, and performance optimization 
• Strong understanding of modern API standards and concepts, and experience collaborating closely with backend teams 
• Experience contributing to technical and architectural decisions on the frontend 
• Strong experience with unit testing, integration testing, and test automation 
• Ability to own frontend features end-to-end, from technical design to delivery and maintenance 
• Ability to work effectively in an agile, cross-functional, English-speaking team, often serving as a technical point of contact 
• Commitment to delivery, reliability, and taking responsibility for outcomes 
• Passion for writing clean, maintainable, scalable, and efficient code 
• Strong problem-solving skills and a structured approach to debugging complex issues 
• Strong sense of curiosity and continuous improvement mindset 
• Adaptability to new technologies, evolving requirements, and a dynamic environment 

Nice to Have: 

• Experience with frontend architecture in large or complex applications 
• Familiarity with backend technologies such as .NET / C# or experience working as a full-stack engineer 
• Familiarity with cloud services (AWS preferred) in a frontend context 
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, build tooling, and release processes 
• Knowledge of observability, monitoring, and performance analysis tools 
• Experience integrating AI-powered front-end features or working with AI-driven products 

Physical requirements 

• Ability to sit for extended periods: The role requires sitting at a desk or workstation for long periods, typically 7-8 hours a day. 
• Use of computer and phone systems: The employee must be able to operate a computer, use phone systems, and type. This includes using multiple software programs and inquiries simultaneously.
