This is a fully remote position, allowing you to work from home or location of record within the U.S. with no in-office requirements.? You must be available five days per week during designated work hours.? The work arrangement for this role is subject to change based on business needs and individual performance. In this role you will shape the user experience strategy for Paylocity’s products. You will foster a collaborative culture, build deep partnerships with cross-functional teams, and set a high bar for design excellence. You will define and implement design strategies across multiple products while leading teams in crafting holistic, end-to-end experiences. You are a storyteller, a change driver, a creative problem solver, and an advocate for innovation, impact, and cultural fit.
Primary Responsibilities
- Define, influence, and advocate for a long-term UX product strategy that aligns with emerging technology and company growth.
- Collaborate with senior leadership, product owners, and development teams to guide end-to-end experiences from concept to launch across multiple products.
- Lead vision and planning for large-scale ideation, processes, and frameworks to ensure optimal product design across an entire product ecosystem.
- Provide high-level guidance to teams, synthesizing complex challenges into clear, user-focused solutions.
- Oversee resource management across multiple products and teams, including project scoping, headcount planning, resource allocation, and team relationship building.
- Secure executives buy-in to ensure product designs optimize user experience and functionality.
- Responsible for team budgeting, assessing and growing design talent, presenting to executive leadership, and driving broader organizational understanding of UX.
- Mentor and coach leaders and teams, fostering accountability as a core driver of success.
Experience
- Extensive experience in UX or product design, supported by a degree in a relevant field
- 15+ years equivalent practical background, with 8+ years leading one or more teams. Varied educational paths are valued when paired with strong design leadership and execution.
- Proven leadership with the ability to influence at all levels of management.
- Data-driven mindset with expertise in leveraging multi-method research approaches.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in user flows and journeys across multiple products and platforms, including mobile, tablet, responsive design, native applications, accessibility, and localization.
- Keen attention to detail and a high level of craft to deliver modern, delightful product experiences.
- Experience in coaching and mentoring designers, hiring top talent, and fostering a growth oriented team environment.
- Proven ability to align senior leadership with product design strategy and long-term vision.
- Expert communicator and facilitator when engaging with business stakeholders.
- Relentlessly curious about tech and market trends, with the ability to adapt accordingly.
- Strong advocate for user experience, ensuring the best possible outcomes.
- Skilled at building relationships in highly collaborative environments.
Preferred
- Proven experience mentoring and coaching team members.
- Strong design craft with expertise across multiple design fields, including UX, UI, design systems, and prototyping, with a demonstrated track record of a robust design process.
- Experience collaborating with UX Research teams to interpret data and translate insights into actionable design decisions.
- Ability to stay current with the latest design trends, tools, and technologies and adapt to evolving design requirements. Experience leading AI and machine learning-driven design initiatives, partnering with data science teams, and driving large-scale implementation.

The base pay range for this position is $205,500 - $270,000 /yr; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This position is eligible for an annual bonus and restricted stock unit grant based on individual performance in addition to a full range of benefits outlined here. This information is provided per the relevant state and local pay transparency laws for the location in which this position will be performed. Base pay information is based on market location.
