Position Overview

 The Compensation Support Specialist is responsible for coordinating and executing a variety of compensation initiatives across the organization. This role supports project management for compensation processes such as salary survey participation, market pricing, and annual merit cycles. It serves as the primary administrator for MarketPay and manages the submission of salary survey data. The position also oversees the job description repository, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and alignment with organizational structure. Additionally, the role supports the development of compensation policies, reporting, and analytics, while staying current on industry trends to enhance compensation practices. 

Primary Responsibilities

 The responsibilities listed below represent the general scope of the role. Other duties may be assigned as needed: 

Project Management: 

  • Coordinate and support compensation projects such as survey participation, market pricing cycles, annual merit processes, and structure reviews. 
  • Support the tracking and updating of team objectives through project management tools. 
  • Track project milestones and collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate deliverables. 
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation and provide regular updates on project progress. 

MarketPay & Survey Management:

  • Serve as the primary administrator for MarketPay, ensuring accurate data uploads and tool maintenance. 
  • Submit annual salary survey data, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and adherence to deadlines. 
  • Conduct market pricing analyses to support compensation decisions for new and existing roles. 
  • Provide user support and training on MarketPay features and data usage. 
  • Job Description Repository Management: 
  • Maintain the central job description database, ensuring consistent formatting, version control, and alignment with organizational structure. 
  • Collaborate with HR Business Partners and hiring managers to create, update, and standardize job descriptions. 
  • Ensure job documentation supports compensation, recruiting, and compliance efforts. 

General Compensation Support: 

  • Assist in the development and communication of compensation policies, procedures, and guidelines. 
  • Generate compensation reports, dashboards, and analyses to support HR and leadership decision-making. 
  • Monitor trends and best practices in compensation to support continuous improvement initiatives. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support the optimization of compensation tools. 

Education and Experience

 Minimum Requirements: 

  • Associate’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, Bachelor’s degree preferred. Equivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of formal education. 
  • 3+ years of progressive experience in HR, with at least 1 year focused on compensation or data analysis. 
  • Familiarity with compensation tools and surveys including experience submitting annual salary data. 
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent project management, organizational, and communication skills. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Exposure to HRIS systems.
  • Experience with compensation survey platforms and tools (e.g., MarketPay, Culpepper, Radford) used for market pricing and salary benchmarking.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion. 
  • Proficient in using SharePoint for document management, collaboration, and maintaining HR-related repositories. 

Skills and Competencies: 

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with Comp and HR partners, business leaders, and external vendors.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both in writing and verbally, especially when conveying data findings or policy details. 
  • Takes ownership of tasks and delivers results without constant oversight; proactive in identifying and solving problems. 
  • Trusted to handle sensitive employee and compensation data with discretion and professionalism. 
  • Positive attitude and willingness to support team and company goals 

Physical Requirements

  •  Ability to sit for extended periods (typically 7–8 hours/day) 
  • Regular use of computers, phones, and other standard office tools

This role can be performed from any office in the US. The pay range for this position is $65,000 - $90,000/yr; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This position is eligible for a restricted stock unit grant based on individual performance in addition to a full range of benefits outlined here. This information is provided per the relevant state and local pay transparency laws for the location in which this position will be performed. Base pay information is based on market location.
