Maine Revenue Services released updated withholding tables for 2017 as of July 28th. The tables are retroactive to January 1st, 2017 and employers must begin to use them immediately.
The tables have been updated to reflect the recent repeal of the 3% income tax surcharge on those earning more than $200,000. This surcharge was voted on and approved by Mainers on November 8th, 2016 and went into effect on January 1st, 2017. Maine Governor LePage repealed this surcharge when he signed the budget bill, ending a three-day state government shutdown.
Based on this change, revised withholding tables have been released and employers are instructed to begin using them immediately.
Paylocity is working to ensure that our systems are updated to reflect these new Maine tables and hope to have the changes in place by the end of next week.
