As of September 4th, 2017, Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES) will shift to a new electronic portal for unemployment tax reporting and payments from employers.  This portal, called MyTax Illinois, is already operational and is managed by the Department of Revenue.  It will replace the TaxNet employer portal that is currently being used by IDES, though some of the unemployment reporting features will not be available until September.


IDES will implement the full transition to the new portal in September.  On September 4th, 2017, TaxNet will be taken offline at midnight.  Beginning September 11, 2017, you can use MyTax Illinois for all your State of Illinois tax needs, including the monthly and quarterly wage filing requirements.


As a part of this change, IDES will no longer be mailing pre-printed, paper forms UI 3/40 to employers in an effort to increase security and protect employees’ personally identifiable information. IDES is encouraging Illinois employers to establish their MyTax Illinois account now before the September cutover.  For more information, please see the Department’s announcement here.
