New York Anti-Sexual Harassment Training

October 11, 2018

Under New York’s anti-sexual harassment legislation, employers must distribute updated policies covering various key areas, and provide training to employees.
Alert

New York State adopted anti-sexual harassment legislation earlier this year, that applies to all employers in New York State, including employers in New York City. As of October 9, 2018, employers must distribute to all New York-based employees an updated anti-sexual harassment policy that covers a number of key areas. New York has provided a model policy here for employer use.

By October 9, 2019, employers also must train all New York-based employees regarding sexual harassment and retaliation, and repeat such training annually thereafter. Please note the 10/9/19 date is a change from the original legislation.

Paylocity Anti-Harassment Training

Paylocity has created two anti-harassment training courses for New York Employers. The Anti-Harassment Training programs follow the model training provided by the New York State Agencies. The trainings will be available on the Compliance dashboard later in October, and for clients who utilize our Learning Management System the training will be available 10/9/18.

Sexual Harassment Training for New York Supervisors

Sexual harassment is a serious issue for today’s organizations. Supervisors are responsible for sustaining a harassment-free workplace for their employees, which involves preventing, reporting and remedying sexual harassment incidents. This course helps supervisors recognize the behaviors that constitute the two types of sexual harassment and the federal and New York state and city laws that prohibit them. The course also reviews how employees can file a sexual harassment claim with the state of New York. In addition to discussing how to prevent, report, and remedy sexual harassment incidents, this course also guides supervisors in supporting victims of sexual harassment and in promoting an inclusive work culture.
